Hello Todd!! Just started training for my first half, The Miami Beach Halloween Half on 10/29/11. Still have time, but the thing is that I want to do it in 2 hrs or less. Any advice will be appreciated.
Glad you enjoyed the Bball tickets, but too bad they didn't get a win that night! The WAB is a good place...Good food and drinks!
I'm not very good at pre-planning my race schedule...I'm more of a, "oh, there's a race next week, I'll do it!" kind of racer.
Also, I do know Eric Christy. He was on the team at U of D when I was there. It may have been my senior year or my 5th year there helping the team (driving vans to meets). Not sure that I have ever formally met Brad Fairchild, but I do know who he is :)
Getting together for a run sounds like a great idea! Therese and I were talking about running the Avoca to Wadhams trail once the snow disappears!!
Thanks Todd! Therese told me about it. I am thinking of doing the Corktown 5k and maybe a 50mile run with Therese, but nothing other than that so far. How about you...any events planned?
Thanks Todd! I see you can in college and are doing MTB racing now. You don't happen to know my buddy Adam Wheeler do you? He did Lumberjack 100 this past year too.
Thanks so much Todd, I hope that this will prove to be a supportive and fun site to visit from time to time, It appears you have done a nice job setting it up.
Ya, I've been doing some running and lifting weights in my basement. Last year was a disaster for me so I'm taking it slow this year.
While training for a marathon last year I developed a stress fracture in my foot in May. I re-injured it 3 times over the summer and it didn't fully heal until the end of August. So this winter I'm sticking with the 10% rule and I'm going to build up a little slower. I need to change my methods, I've hurt myself every year for the last 3 or 4 years and I missed all of the big events I had planned last year.
What are you doing over the winter? I see you have a stationary trainer for your bicycle. How is that for conditioning?
Hi Todd - I was surprised to see how many people on this site are from the Port Huron area.. I happened to see a bumper sticker on the back of a jeep going down 94 next to a 26.2 marathon sticker - thought I'd better check it out...
Thanks for the welcome, Todd! I see you've done Lumberjack. I plan on doing Lumberjack this year for the first time (I just starting MTBing last year). It'll be my first 100 mile race though I've done 100 in training (but not on singletrack!). Dreading and looking forward to it all at the same time! :-)
