Riding to FIght Ovarian Cancer!

I've registered to ride in Ovarian Cycle's Ride to Change the Future to raise funds for ovarian cancer research!

This is close to home for me, because I lost a favorite aunt to ovarian cancer in 2010.

Check out my page - http://ovariancycle.kintera.org/birmingham/tlwbadbiker2013
- and help me reach my fundraising goal, or join me in Birmingham on February 24th!

Holiday Motivation

Hi, gang -

Hope everyone is having a great Thanksgiving Day - enjoying friends and familiy, that festive meal, great football on TV, and all the other traditions.

I found some virtual run challenges that I hope will keeping me…

New Kicks

I haven't spoken about my road running shoes in awhile. I went through a long transitional period of experimenting with minimalist shoes.

I am right back where I started....... Should have never switched.

I ordered two pairs of the Nike Structure Triax +15 online (lovin' the pink ones).

Had to drive…

I could use some advice...

As I've mentioned before, I am using this New Years day marathon to raise money for a charitable effort:  http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/rosesherman/roseshermansfundraisingpage.  I know the economy is in the crapper, but I'm starting to get seriously bummed out about how far from my fundraising goal I am...

That, and I am starting to get good and truly terrified about my…

Marathon Training blues

I've never run a race before.  Mostly because large crowds make me panic, and most races involve large crowds.  But I've signed up for the New Years Day marathon at Stony Creek Metropark, in large part because it is a small event.  Then, to solidify my commitment, I decided to use the opportunity to raise money for a special cause.

So far, my training is going better than I had expected.  I've only missed one training run - a 5-miler - because of IT band pain.  I've managed…

Gosh, it's been so long since I've seen you all.

I have missed you! I'm writing over at another blog, for a company called BRDSport--go over and visit us at BRDSport.com (I write all of the blog entries for that company, and I'm also at their Twitter feed: @brdsports)

Guys! I have a race report I am dying to write, and this is the perfect excuse. And some of you may remember my race report from the Death Valley marathon in December of 2008. Well, guess what? We got married…

New tires for my bike

Well, I must admit I was skeptical that tires would really make a difference. I was wrong they made a big difference. I already feel faster. Now I need to start training on some hills. I am going to complete a sprint triathlon in 2012.

Avery did it! My 8y/o was able to do the entire mountain bike season here in MI and not only do it, but finished in 1st PLACE over all! She started out the season being scared and riding her 1x6, entry level mountain bike through some really big trails. We bought her a real mountain bike for her birthday but I didnt think she…
