Avery did it! My 8y/o was able to do the entire mountain bike season here in MI and not only do it, but finished in 1st PLACE over all! She started out the season being scared and riding her 1x6, entry level mountain bike through some really big trails. We bought her a real mountain bike for her birthday but I didnt think she would grow into it enough to use it in a race until late in the year... What a great event to video!
This was year 3 and I still have a great time hanging out and filming.
(The picture is of our daughter Avery as she sprints that last 100yards to the finish of her first ever 5k run! She came in 3rd place out of 11.)

Mike Liagre "MASHER" said… I finished my 1ST BARRY ROUBAIX, over in Kalamazoo on Sat.
I had not trained at all for it and was doing it on my single speed, (SS). Everyone I spoke to about this race thought I was crazy and once I got going into the race, could understand why...
I had something happen to me for the first time ever in a bike race. I went the wrong way! Instead of staying on and racing the 35mile loop like I signed on for, I took the 23mile loop and finished with very sore legs and a beat up ego.
I had no intention of doing that and am kinda disappointed that there wasn't a person at that bifurcation with a flag yelling at everyone to go the right way...
My legs would have made it another 5 - 10miles but I dont know if I could of made it the whole 35 miles.
POST UP if this has ever happened to you or someone you know....
(I feel like a dope)
