I am thankful for good friends and family. Just the comfort of knowing that they are there for you, is huge. Knowing that even though you don't see them daily, they would be there for you in the drop of a hat, is reassuring. We just lost a dear frie…

Thanks - hate running in isolated places while alone. I also hate using the path in our area when on my bike - and I've been told it's safer but ... I'll need to get a running pal and come check it out sometime.

It's not mental at all - physical - but able to overcome and succeed!

The verdict is in. Went to the pulm guy today and I definitely have asthma and not just exercise induced. Since my daughter has it for 17 years, I know all about it and what to do. I have the stuff, I've started to take it and he said I can start running in three days! I can hardly wait, but I know it won't be easy (starting back from 2 1/2 months off from running). Maybe I'll do better than before - maybe it wasn't entirely in my head, though I'm sure some of it was :) I can hardly wait to swea… Continue

It isn't just mental - it's very physical!

I cannot believe it! I am sick again. How can someone work out for the better part of two years become so sick and not completely get better? Another trip to the doc on Tuesday to get another steroid shot, more steroids and an anti-biotic! I AM NOT A SICK PERSON - never have been. I have given up almost all physical activity trying to get better ... what more can I do?! Thanks for letting me vent and can't wait to get past this and be able to run, work out and do more distance biking. I'm also t… Continue

Back in the saddle ... or whatever!

OMG! Today was my first day back since having pneumonia, etc. I thought the 60 minutes (aerobic, step, weights) class would NEVER end! I sweat sooooo much, was breathing sooooo hard and wondered if I had made the right decision. However, after that I completed several other things that needed to be done ... without stopping ... a reminder how much working out gives you more energy! Tomorrow I'm going to try to run ... know there will be some walking involved. Very much appreciate that having put… Continue

Leprechaun Loop

It was a gorgeous day for the race. I had my second best time, which for March is good for the season! I experienced a little strain in the upper extremity and will have to take it easy for a couple days to see it goes away. Never had this one before. My daughter, brother-in-law and two nieces were at the Loop in addition to many friends and locals ... nice to be surrounded by such familiar and friendly faces. Can someone tell me how to get rid of those negative thoughts I always have in the fir… Continue

So am I going to see you at the Torch Run? This will be my third one and I have yet to beat any of those Special Olympians but I keep trying. Maybe I need to try harder.

No, it wasn't me on State Rd. I typically run from my work (the old Michigan National Bank building) to the bridge and back or I run the Wadhams trail...or from my house in the Lynn Township area. :)

Hey girl, imagine seeing you here. Been really busy but I have gotten back to running. I hurt my back somehow at the beginning of January. I seemed that every time that I hit with my right foot it would jar my back pretty bad, and made it very hard to run. I finally got it straightened it out and I am back to running again. Although, it is just like starting over.

I haven't had much time to set this site up but I do plan to and get involved with it more. Talk to ya soon. Thanks for being a friend

I'm back on it tomorrow ... need to get going and feeling much better after the dreaded cold. Did find I recovered alot faster by taking time off vs. trying to work out through it. Will have to remember that in the future. Thanks for the vino tips and will remember not to drink it right after an event ... will stick with the protein powder for now ... or yummy chocolate milk!

You'll love the white merlot, although it's not a good recovery drink after a run! I ran 3+ miles outside yesterday--the weather was perfect. With all this rain I think I'll be on the treadmill tonight.

I am not really looking for more competition. Do you two ever run after work along the river, now that the weather is sort of improving? My usual training run is from the MOC up to the bridge. Maybe I'll see you.

Sorry I didn't get to actually meet you yesterday. Wasn't that a wonderful day for a run. I can't really explain my time which was 2 minutes faster than my best and about 3 and a half faster than I planned. Ran every step with my daughter Kristi and I guess we just kept encouraging each other and watching the pace. We surprised ouselves. Can't really explain the kilt, It just seemed like the thing to do. Next time I want to meet you. Congrats on a good run and hope you heal up quickly. - Jim
