Wow...you definitely have a lot on your plate. Luckily, I don't think there will ever be a shortage of future 1/2 marathons and when life slows a bit for you, you'll reach that goal. I'd love to head out for that long run with you when you're ready to train! :) You just let me know...maybe a good fall goal! The Crim and the Mackinac Island race are both great races! I would recommend the Crim to anyone because it's TRULY a good time!!! I haven't run Mackinac since 2003 and I think it has grown a lot since then, so I bet it's even more fun now. I'm actually already signed up for the Crim and am planning to head to Mackinac with some friends this year, too (although I'm not signed up yet). If you're thinking about the Crim...check out the registration because the price goes up as it gets closer, but I don't recall when the price increases.
As for me and Cleveland...I'm hoping to be okay there. My goal was to try and qualify for Boston there and I was on a good path to completing that goal. However, I was diagnosed with pneumonia a week ago (been sick for 2 weeks) and it has been a pretty huge setback. I think I'll be okay to finish the race at this point, but think it may be out as a Boston Qualifier for me at this time. I'm planning for another marathon in the fall (Chicago or Detroit) so if Cleveland doesn't work out, I"ll try again (begrudgingly...Ha!!)
you need to see somebody about your knees...I see a sports chiropractor. You need different shoes, or something.....a professional can help you. Don't push it...listen to your body. You don't want to be causing damage, so find out what the problem is, I am sure it is the mechanics of your legs/feet/gait/step. Maybe you pronation is the problem. In the meantime, sweimming is such an excellent cross training!! I swam before work today, ECCM 2p-2a for Gayle. I did run Saturday afternoon. It was brutal...I managed 6km in the inclement weather, but I was happy I got out.
