20 min on treadmill for 2.3 miles, mostly fast walking, about 0.6 mile run and another 0.3 mile run along the way...followed by 10 minutes on eliptical....fx femur is feeling gooooood!!
I did race this weekend...it was a milestone for me!!....Sprint Tri in Port Huron....managed to negotiate the choppy water with a strong current, cycled like a crazy woman, and walked the 5k run with a 50yd sprint at the end......fractured femur wil…
3 miles on the treadmill.....mostly walking, but 0.6 mile run in the middle and 0.2 mile sprint on the end..managed the whole thing in 24:58 and was very pleased, I never ran that time before my injury!
I am a beginner runner and also beginner triathlete.
I got the competitive bug last summer (2008). I never ran before, and it was a very slow, difficult, even painful start, but I perservered!! I love the feel of finishing a race. It is definately a personal "high". I hope to improve my athletics and have made it part of my lifestyle. Looking after my health is important. I hope to maintain a very healthy, active life for many years.....NO EXCUSES!!!
I am a mother of 1 teenager and 2 adult children. I am at the time of my life where I am making ME a priority!! Since 1985, I have spent many hours in arenas with 2 figure skating daughters. For many years, it was year round. Both these girls are still skating, one is a retired professional, the other is on an adult synchronized skating team which competes. My son has played travel hockey since he was 7 years old. He continues to play AAA hockey with the Lambton Junior Sting. His love of golf has surpassed his love of hockey and he has become a very skilled competitive golfer. Luckily he can be left on the golf course most of the summer and this allows me to spend time cycling, running and swimming!!
Making time for myself after being a mother for 25 years has been excellent for me.
I have set high goals for myself, and I am beginning to reach some of them..... NO EXCUSES!!
WHETHER I THINK I CAN, OR THINK I CAN'T...I AM PROBABLY RIGHT!!!

Hi Dianne! My oldest daughter used to skate and was on a synchronized team as well. She quit to be a cheerleader!! She's too much of a social butterfly to be left out of the school activities.
Can I say WOW!! For someone who is a beginner you have done very well. Great job and keep it up!! My first half will be on Oct 17th. I'm thinking I like the tris though. We'll see...
Hi Dianne,
I left a message on the Leprechaun even site on Just Finish but I did want to tell you sorry that I missed the race. Too tired from being up for about 26 hours and couldn't stay up any longer to wait for the race. I'm sure you did well. I ran down all the flights of stairs at work last night and had a little IT pain so it's best for me to let my knee rest a little longer.
Thanks for the reminder about green-stuff. I have 4 strands of beads that I just set out to wear. I'll might have a few other things around the house but I won't do a whole lot of dressing up. That will be a little rough with your shins but just do the best you can! It sounds like it will be nice later tomorrow but might be chilly for the fun. Hopefully the sun is out like it is now!
Yes, I'm planning to run the 10K. I still am working the night before so I might end up backing out but, as of now, I'm still planning to run. I'm not doing any running since finishing the 1/2 so that my knee will hopefully behave!
OMG, Can you believe that! The Princess Half was so much fun and I was SO happy with my time and division placement! Had some I.T. band spasm after I joined up with the hubby but he helped me get to the eating tent so I could get a massage and rest. It is fine now but I couldn't go down stairs at Disney the next day. Stinks being 45!
Hi Dianne,
Nice job on your race! Sounds like we had similar weather conditions. Unfortunately I got a cold yesterday and my race didn't go so well. I finished also at 2:29. It was also my bib number.
