Hoping to complete 10 marathons in 10 different states before 50th birthday and in the process came across a group called Marathon Maniacs now.. I'm hoping to meet that challenge and become a Maniac along the way. My kids think I am crazy...they may be right!

I hope to requalify at Boston, but know that the weather play a huge role in achieving that goal! I've run it when it was 86 degrees starting out....and when we had the the high winds and rain. If I don't....back up plan is to run Bayshore about 4 weeks later. Beautiful marathon along the lake in Traverse City. Out and back...relatively flat, fast course.
I should have read your profile before commenting. My gosh. We have so much in common!! I am 53 years old. Ran the Little Rock marathon 29 years ago. Ran Flying Pig in 2002. Ran NY in 2008. Ran the Martian Marathon as a training run in 2007 & 2008. We should hook up and decide on a marathon to run together. : )
I ran the Flying Pig about 9 years ago. Such an awesome marathon!! Challenging!! The BEST MARATHON MEDALS!!
Best wishes! NEVER give up! You WILL finish!! (I have to laugh...2nd marathon. I remember during the last 6 miles saying to myself, "I am NEVER running another marathon!! This is worse than childbirth!!" 15 marathons later......I'm still running them.
You ROCK MARATHON MANIAC #1233. PR in Little Rock. Look out Detroit, Martian Maniacs are coming. Congrats on this past weekend. Had a great time. Can't wait for Martian Marathon
Remember what you said... Your family will be there to See You FINISH! Keep that in your mind as you make it each step closer to that goal. YOU WILL FINISH!!!
Hi Dee,
I saw your comment on re: Disney and your IT band. i will be there on Sunday. I am also running the Half marathon the day before. Up until 3 weeks ago, what min. per mile pace were you training at? The reason I ask is because you have 16 minutes to complete each mile. If you can run 4, you can run 8. All you have to do is run/walk every other mile, and you WILL FINISH! I ran the full in 07 w/ IT band problems. My knee was twice the size. I am proud to say I FINISHED and YOU CAN TOO!!! Besides, it's Disney have FUN!
I noticed you're from Nashville, so I had to say hello. My husband and I visited your awesome "town" this past April, when I ran the CMM. (Hey, I think I saw ya!) That was my first full marathon, and, boy, was that fun! Miles 21-25 were the toughest, partly because that was one of the quiet zones (in the park), but I sure loved that last mile! My husband and I are definitely planning to go back, probably for the half-marathon (hopefully together) this time.
