No tats for me. When I was younger my grandfather had some tattoo on his arm that he had gotten in WWII. If I wanted to get a good look at it I would have to stretch his arm to see it. Turned me right off to tattoos.
Today was the start of my training for the Nike woman's marathon. 6 miles. Ran for the most part and only had a few walk breaks. Did stop to refuel at the park.
I received the nike+ for a Christmas gift> I started to post my miles and get into challenges one of the challengers ask me what I was training for, I was just trying to win the challenges, So I signed up for a race and had so much fun that I wanted to go the distance and run a marathon. Now I just want to run a better marathon.

The medal is awsome. I had forgotten that was the reason Kristi picked Cleveland to run. My fitness wasn't what it should have been after running the Martian 6 weeks ago, but I hung on th knock almost 3 minutes off my PR so I am a happy camper. So how was OGden.
Hey Cindy, sorry it took so long to get back to you. Just came off two week school break, and then got swamped volunteering for something at my kids school, which will keep me busy until 1/23ish. But I'm trying to catch up today:)
You asked me how I got so fast, or faster, without doing any speedwork. I'm a huge proponent of heartrate training. I purchased a book by John Parker, Heartrate monitor training for the complete idiot". Sounds dopey, but it's a fantastic book.
Taught me a lot. And this past year, I started running on 1/2/08, I did all of my runs (a total of 760 or so miles, running at a HR of 140 or below), started at a 17min mile, and is now about a 9:15 mile in that same heartrate zone.
My only speedwork, was that I ran 12 races throughout 2008. 10 were NYroad runners races (4 were 4mile races, 2 were 5mile races, 2 were 10K races & 2 half marathons) I needed to qualify for the 2009 NYC marathon, and then I did two local races one a 10K and one a 5K. On those race days I pushed it to the limit and hit my max. That was my only speed work.
I am training right now for the Long Island Marathon on 5/3 and then NYC on 11/1, again, I am doing no speed work. I will run at least 5 days a week, of 4 easy runs, and 1 long run.
