Jim, Same thing happened to me at the Seattle RnR full - Just past the Aurora bridge at about mile 19 both lower legs started to cramp. I knew that sodium was my problem. I reached for my Hammer Endurolytes and found out I dropped the container along the route. Walked for a quarter mile to find some salt packets. Downed 2. Unfortunately, it was another 1/2 mile to water. BUT, I finished!

I did the Marine Corps Marathon Sunday in DC but it sure didn't go as planned.... The official time ended up being 4:32:13. I was on pace to finish 4:05-4:10 @ mile 22-23 but got hit with cramps in both legs which slowed me down dramatically. Every time I'd start to speed up to under 10:00/mi pace the cramps would start to return. Plenty of hydration so not sure what happened. I ended up 9503/21855 overall finishers, 6663/13196 male finishers & 247/708 male 55-59 finishers. It was a tough course with the first eight miles being mostly uphill. Despite the cramps I feel really good. Did a light run today & am looking forward to this Sunday & running the NYC marathon.

Jenny! You certainly denied Lt. Zebulon Pike his claim on the mountain! Great job!

Charles - I did Pikes Peak Ascent this year, and the altitude above 12,000 kicked my behind! Highest I can train on around Boise is ~ 8300 feet. I ended up doing ok at PP, but those last couple of miles were rough. Great experience though. I've decided if I do it again, I'm going to do the marathon - once you get to the top, you can turn around and in 15 minutes you're feeling good again. (And Dan ... although I'm not really that competitive with anyone except myself - but yes, it is fun beating the kids!)

Way to go Jenny indeed!

Today I ran the Super Hero 5K and PR'ed with a time of 43:44 - that is 2:85 off of my previous PR at Lexs Run in September - Did a 14:01 min. mile - haven't seen that in a loooong time. Great to be back and better than ever. I harnessed those super hero powers of the Bat Girl outfit I was wearing and am so grateful to my super hero husband LinuxMan Tom who paced me and kept me going through the whole race.

Hey Gang! Congrats on all your accomplishments! I haven't been reporting for awhile, but I've been reading everyone's comments. 50s and still finishing are rockin'! Just ran the St Pat's 24-Hour Race in South Bend, Indiana. Ran 87 miles and finished first female. The 2nd place female was 32 years old. Running the Louisiana Trails 50K on Nov 13.
