I ran the Angel Island 25K Trail Run today, and I wanted to let you know how it went. Angel Island is in the middle of San Fransisco Bay and at one time served as the Ellis Island of the West Coast.
This is an amazing and challenging race. It loops around the Island three times, each at higher altitude. The last loop includes a summit of Mount Livermore at 8000'. The summit was shrouded in fog. The views at lower levels were just stunning. San Francisco could be seen in the distance surrounded by mist. Both the Bay Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge peeked out from time to time. The weather was cool enough to run comfortably. Since this was my first trail race, next time I'll wear trail shoes. It was a little slippery. Not the ideal situation for someone afraid of falling. The race itself was well run. Of course, I was the third from last, so I don't really know how things went. I got plenty of food and water, and I finished.
